Dendraster casmaliaensis
Approximately 5 Million year old sand dollar fossil from the Foxen Canyon Formation in Santa Barbara County of California. This sand dollar is about 38 mm in diameter and shows impecible detail.
The front has been cleaned with HCl in order to remove calcite cemented sand covering the sand dollar. Due to the fragile nature of this sand dollar, the sand was not cleaned from the back side, helping to maintain its integrity. No repairs have been made to this fossil. This fossil is very fragile, please handle with care.
The fossil is shipped in a "floating" display case (pictured).

These fossil sand dollars are extremely rare to be prserved whole and with this detail. These come from the Foxen Canyon Formation in Santa Barbara Couny of California and date between 2 amd 5 million years old.
